Southwold School
Project Details:
- Project Value: £175k
- Client: Wernick Hire
- Type: School
In August 2024, we completed this project at Southwold School. The project included provision of a double classroom block and changing room block at The Southwold Academy and Sixth Form, whilst heavy refurbishment works took place due to discovery of RAAC in the main school. Being a hire project, speed, cost and reinstatement were key drivers during the design stage. Setting out, foundations and drainage were all designed and built in-house by EvaBuild, in readiness for Wernick Modular Hire to deliver the Modular Buildings. From breaking ground to reinstatement, the project was turned around in only 7 weeks.
Completing works in a live school is complex, however disruptive works were programmed around school holidays to minimise impact on the end user. Access to the site was difficult due to no roadway, as a solution track way panels were provided across grass fields to create a haul road during the construction phase.
Scope of works:
- Supply and install of temporary haul road (Track Way)
- Site clearance of fencing to access working area
- Constructed of pad foundations off existing tarmac playground
- Storm and Foul drainage connected back into existing system
- 150m combined Service trench
- Reinstatement of all tarmac hardstanding
- Reinstatement of all soft landscaping
EvaBuild were a great support on this project, executing a fast turnaround in only 7 weeks. Their constant efforts to minimise disruptions onsite and ability to work around complexities, is why we consider EvaBuild as one of our preferred supply chain partners.
