In 2024, EvaBuild completed the groundworks on a project to provide a new custom facility for Martin Baker, commissioned by our Client Wernick Buildings. Martin Baker are a world leader in the design and manufacture of ejection seats. Wernick Buildings designed and installed a new modular unit for Martin Baker, whilst EvaBuild undertook groundworks and various external works following modular install.  

An initial site investigation was carried out including topographical utility and ground investigation surveys, to aid with design and risk mitigation at an early stage.  

In order to produce a level formation for piling and externals, a large retaining wall was constructed from 3.0m high precast ‘L’ panels.  

EvaBuild carried out a reduce level dig and removal of existing hardstanding’s to prepare for ground improvement and shallow pad foundations in readiness for the new modular building. A combined service trench was dug for water, electric, data/alarms and gas. Drainage was carried out for the site including local connections.

This project included a traditional build plant room structure adjoining the main building.  

Upon completion of modular install by our Client Wernick Buildings, EvaBuild fulfilled a masonry package including a full brickwork skin, various retaining walls and a concrete staircase leading to the new unit.  

Finally, a full external works hard and soft landscaping package was undertaken which included composite decking and fencing, block paved diner area, tarmac footpaths, fencing, balustrades and handrails.

  • Site clearance – removal of existing hardstanding’s and diversion of HV cables and existing drainage
  • Stone haul road and compound
  • Reduce dig and preparation of piling mat
  • Combined Service Trench – water, electric, data/alarms and gas
  • Storm and Foul drainage
  • Vibro-Stone ground improvement, Pad and plinth foundations with stone oversite 
  • Construct new raft foundation to staircase and plant room
  • Brickwork – perimeter lintel foundation and brickwork skin 
  • New concrete base and trough for new A/C units   
  • Hard and Soft landscaping package
