Magna Medical Centre (Rackheath)

Project Overview

The Rackheath Medical Centre, newly named the Magna Medical Centre, is a modern primary care facility designed to meet the needs of a rapidly growing community. Developed with an £11 million investment in partnership with NHS Property Services and NHS Norfolk & Waveney, it will serve up to approximately 10,000 patients each year.  

EvaBuild were engaged to deliver a comprehensive groundworks package to support the modular construction programme. EvaBuild Surfacing delivered the site’s external tarmac surfacing. This included a large tarmac car park, installing road kerbs, forming pedestrian pathways, and completing all line marking such as zebra crossings, disabled bays, EV bays and the associated EV-charging areas.

These works formed a key part of the project’s operational functionality, ensuring safe access, efficient traffic flow and future-proofed parking facilities for staff, patients and visitors. In addition to all groundworks, EvaBuild also provided a brickworks package.  

Scope of Works

Enabling Works and Ground Preparation: 

• Site investigations and enabling works
• Construction of a temporary haul road during early construction
• Reduce-dig to building footprint 

Foundations and Structural Base: 

• Pad foundations and lift pad foundations
• Strip foundations
• Brickwork skin up to 300 mm above internal finished floor level (FFL)
• Installation of brick lintels and ventilation air bricks 

Drainage and Water Management: 

• Surface-water drainage
• Construction of rain gardens
• Foul-drainage installation 

Services and Utilities: 

• Combined services trench for water, electricity, data/alarms and gas 

Surfacing 

• Installation of a new fully permeable tarmac area measuring approximately 1,837 m²
• Construction of pedestrian tarmac pathways
• Road kerbs and edging
• Line-marking including zebra crossing, disabled bays, EV bays and EV-charging points 

Landscaping: 

• Installation of a bicycle shelter and bollards
• Installation of wooden benches
• Top-soil and planting of shrubs
