Kings Norton Girls' School
In September 2024, EvaBuild completed the groundworks on a project to provide a new principal modular building for Kings Norton Girls’ School, working with our Client Pickerings Hire Ltd. Kings Norton Girls’ School, based in Birmingham, required a new modular building to replace a previous modular structure due to a section of the building being condemned.
EvaBuild began by completing various site investigations including a WAC test, desktop mains utility search, topographic utility survey and plate bearing test. Upon completion, demolition to the existing structure began.
Following demolition, the foundations were cleared and replaced with new pad foundations and a 75mm stone oversite.
This project was delivered to a tight timeline, ensuring the majority of works took place during the Summer holidays before students and staff returned to the school. EvaBuild worked closely with our Client Pickerings Hire Ltd throughout the project to ensure timely completion of each stage, allowing us to deliver the project on time and on budget.
Full scope of works:
- Site investigations – WAC test, desktop mains utility search, topographic utility survey, plate bearing test
- Percolation test and design, CCTV drainage survey, asbestos demolition survey
- Foundation design
- Demolition of existing structure on site
- Creating new sloped bank for access to site
- Pad foundations and 75mm stone oversite with perimeter kerb and gully to promote level access
- Foul and storm drainage design and installation including connections for both into existing systems.
- Combined service trench for water and electric
- Construct new tarmac area and footpath to all four sides around new modular unit
- Installation of ramps, steps and handrail to front entrance
- Retaining Wall, Handrail, tarmac hardstanding to rear
- Canopy Design and installation including structural engineers design and calculations
- Electrical install to new building (140m run including all containment across roof and trenching where required)
Working with EvaBuild on this project was a huge success. The project evolved over the course of the installation, with additional works being required that were outside of the initial scope. EvaBuild reacted to these changes quickly and efficiently, keeping everyone informed and up to date with minimal disruption. This isn’t the first project we have worked on with EvaBuild and it definitely won’t be the last.
