New two storey building for Bristol University, located at the centre of Bristol Royal Fort Gardens.
We started with a reduced dig on a very restricted site compound which was made even more difficult with a Grade II listed gate/building a few meters away from the proposed building. During this process the campus was still live, this made the logistics challenging for muck-away and deliveries. Each movement on site was meticulously planned, we also had a full-time traffic marshal on site.
Shallow pad foundations were constructed along with concrete piers (no shims needed).
SW and FW drainage were connected in to the existing system, this was trenched through existing sandstone paving, carefully avoiding many underground services. An attenuation tank and hydrobrake manhole was also added to the SW drainage.
Electric services were trenched from a plant room which involved extensive trenchwork.
External work around the building included DDA compliant ramps and steps, planting areas, air conditioning pads and top soil reinstatement.
All work was completed within the programme.
“The whole team from start to finish have been really helpful and accommodating to changes on site. We’ve had great feedback from other Portakabin employees and the University on tidiness, speed of work and quality of finish”
